Following God

Following God begins with hearing his word

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me:”

(John 10:27)

Following God means becoming like a child

“Be ye therefore followers of God, as dear children; And

walk in love, as Christ also hath loved us, and hath given himself for us an offering and a sacrifice to God for a sweetsmelling savour.”

(Ephesians 5:1-2)

Following God means getting off the fence

“And Elijah came unto all the people, and said, How long halt ye between two opinions? if the LORD be God, follow him: but if Baal, then follow him. And the people answered him not a word.”

(I Kings 18:21)

Following God sometimes means standing alone

“Thou shalt not follow a multitude to do evil; neither shalt thou speak in a cause to decline after many to wrest judgment:”

(Exodus 23:2)

Following God means following that which is of God

“But thou, O man of God, flee these things; and follow after righteousness, godliness, faith, love, patience, meekness.”

(I Timothy 6:11)

Following God means denying yourself

“And he said to them all, If any man will come after me, let him deny himself, and take up his cross daily, and follow me.”

(Luke 9:23)

Following God will involve suffering

“For even hereunto were ye called: because Christ also suffered for us, leaving us an example, that ye should follow his steps:”

(I Peter 2:21)

Those who follow God are safe in his hand

“My sheep hear my voice, and I know them, and they follow me: And I give unto them eternal life; and they shall never perish, neither shall any man pluck them out of my hand.”

(John 10:27-28)
