Law and Grace (part 4)

It is important to understand "law" in order to understand "grace". What is the law? Jesus summarized the law as follows:

"... Thou shalt love the Lord thy God with all thy heart, and with all thy soul, and with all thy mind. This is the first and great commandment. And the second is like unto it, Thou shalt love thy neighbour as thyself."

Matthew 22:37-39

God tells us that if we keep all of the law except in just one point, we are guilty of all of it:

“For whosoever shall keep the whole law, and yet offend in one point, he is guilty of all.”

James 2:10

Those who don't continue in everything within the law are under God's curse:

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” Galatians 3:10

Those who don't continue in everything within the law are under God's curse:

“For as many as are of the works of the law are under the curse: for it is written, Cursed is every one that continueth not in all things which are written in the book of the law to do them.” Galatians 3:10

Having read the verses above, God gives you two choices: 

  • You can reject what God says about you. 

  • You can accept what God says about you.

If you choose to reject what God has said about you, then you are under God's curse and judgment. If you accept what God has said about you, then you will want to know if there is any hope for you. It is my privilege to tell you that God has wonderful news for you....

You see, the purpose of the law is to show you that you have sinned against a holy and righteous God and then to bring you to God's great grace:

"Now we know that what things soever the law saith, it saith to them who are under the law: that every mouth may be stopped, and all the world may become guilty before God."

Romans 3:19

“Whosoever committeth sin transgresseth also the law: for sin is the transgression of the law.”

I John 3:4

"Wherefore the law was our schoolmaster to bring us unto Christ, that we might be justified by faith." Galatians 3:24

The only way that this curse can be removed from you is for you to first understand that Christ took your curse upon himself....

"Christ hath redeemed us from the curse of the law, being made a curse for us: for it is written, Cursed is every one that hangeth on a tree:"

Galatians 3:13

...And then to understand that by placing your full trust in him and accepting his grace, you will no longer be under the curse of the law, but will be under his grace instead:

"But now the righteousness of God without the law is manifested, being witnessed by the law and the prophets. Even the righteousness of God which is by faith of Jesus Christ unto all and upon all them that believe: for there is no difference: For all have sinned, and come short of the glory of God;"

Romans 3:21-23

“For by grace are ye saved through faith; and that not of yourselves: it is the gift of God:” Ephesians 2:8

"I do not frustrate the grace of God: for if righteousness come by the law, then Christ is dead in vain." Galatians 2:21

"For God so loved the world, that he gave his only begotten Son, that whosoever believeth in him should not perish, but have eternal life. For God sent not his Son into the world to condemn the world; but that the world through him might be saved."

John 3:16-17

If you have heard God speak to you today through his word and you have come to realize that Christ is your only hope, you only need to humble yourself before God, and ask him to save you through the grace that he is offering you as a free gift paid for by the sacrifice of his Son.

If you have already been born again (which is simply that which is described above) then share this good news with someone else.
