Truth

God is a God of truth:

He is the Rock, his work is perfect: for all his ways are judgment: a God of truth and without iniquity, just and right is he.

(Deuteronomy 32:4)

God is truth:

Jesus saith unto him, I am the way, the truth, and the life: no man cometh unto the Father, but by me.

(John 14:6)

God’s word is truth:

Sanctify them through thy truth: thy word is truth.

(John 17:17)

And this is the word of truth by which we are born again:

Of his own will begat he us with the word of truth, that we should be a kind of firstfruits of his creatures.

(James 1:18)

And without loving the truth there is no salvation:

And with all deceivableness of unrighteousness in them that perish; because they received not the love of the truth, that they might be saved.

(II Thessalonians 2:10)

We are to think on the truth:

Finally, brethren, whatsoever things are true, whatsoever things are honest, whatsoever things are just, whatsoever things are pure, whatsoever things are lovely, whatsoever things are of good report; if there be any virtue, and if there be any praise, think on these things.

(Philippians 4:8)

Truth has a price and it should never be sold:

Buy the truth, and sell it not; also wisdom, and instruction, and understanding.

(Proverbs 23:23)

Truth sometimes causes those whom we love to turn against us:

Am I therefore become your enemy, because I tell you the truth?

(Galatians 4:16)

When Jesus told the truth, his own people attempted to murder him:

But I tell you of a truth, many widows were in Israel in the days of Elias, when the heaven was shut up three years and six months, when great famine was throughout all the land; But unto none of them was Elias sent, save unto Sarepta, a city of Sidon, unto a woman that was a widow. And many lepers were in Israel in the time of Eliseus the prophet; and none of them was cleansed, saving Naaman the Syrian. And all they in the synagogue, when they heard these things, were filled with wrath, And rose up, and thrust him out of the city, and led him unto the brow of the hill whereon their city was built, that they might cast him down headlong. But he passing through the midst of them went his way,

(Luke 4:25-30)

In this false religious world, truth is mostly rejected:

And judgment is turned away backward, and justice standeth afar off: for truth is fallen in the street, and equity cannot enter.

(Isaiah 59:14)

And following the truth can cause us to become prey to those who don’t:

Yea, truth faileth; and he that departeth from evil maketh himself a prey: and the LORD saw it, and it displeased him that there was no judgment.

(Isaiah 59:14)

But truth brings freedom:

And ye shall know the truth, and the truth shall make you free.

(John 8:32)

And truth is often associated with mercy in God’s word:

Mercy and truth are met together; righteousness and peace have kissed each other.

(Psalm 85:10)

Truth must be spoken in love:

But speaking the truth in love, may grow up into him in all things, which is the head, even Christ:

(Ephesians 4:15)

And real love is truthful:

My little children, let us not love in word, neither in tongue; but in deed and in truth.

(l John 3:18)

And we know that the Son of God is come, and hath given us an understanding,

that we may know him that is true, and we are in him that is true,

even in his Son Jesus Christ.

This is the true God, and eternal life.
