God’s Word

The law of the LORD is perfect, converting the soul:

the testimony of the LORD is sure, making wise the simple.

The statutes of the LORD are right, rejoicing the heart:

the commandment of the LORD is pure, enlightening the eyes.

We should reverence God’s word

Princes have persecuted me without a cause: but my heart standeth in awe of thy word.

Psalm 119:161

God has exalted his word very high

I will worship toward thy holy temple, and praise thy name for thy lovingkindness and for thy truth: for thou hast magnified thy word above all thy name.

Psalm 138:2

Jesus Christ is called the Word

In the beginning was the Word, and the Word was with God, and the Word was God.

For there are three that bear record in heaven, the Father, the Word, and the Holy Ghost: and these three are one.

God made the universe by his word

Through faith we understand that the worlds were framed by the word of God, so that things which are seen were not made of things which do appear. Hebrews 11:3

God himself wrote some of the words

At that time the LORD said unto me, Hew thee two tables of stone like unto the first, and come up unto me into the mount, and make thee an ark of wood. And I will write on the tables the words that were in the first tables which thou brakest, and thou shalt put them in the ark.

Deuteronomy 10:1,2 (Exodus 34:1 is similar)

And the tables were the work of God, and the writing was the writing of God, graven upon the tables.

Jesus Christ relied upon the written word when tempted

But he answered and said, It is written, Man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that proceedeth out of the mouth of God

We are warned not to tamper with God’s word

Add thou not unto his words, lest he reprove thee, and thou be found a liar.

God’s word is preserved forever

The grass withereth, the flower fadeth: but the word of our God shall stand for ever.

We are born again by God’s word

Being born again, not of corruptible seed, but of incorruptible, by the word of God, which liveth and abideth for ever. For all flesh is as grass, and all the glory of man as the flower of grass. The grass withereth, and the flower thereof falleth away: But the word of the LORD endureth for ever. And this is the word which by the gospel is preached unto you.

God’s word is to be desired

More to be desired are they than gold, yea, than much fine gold: sweeter also than honey and the honeycomb.
